Position Summary
Our client, is undergoing a major, multi-phase realignment of its IT organization — a system-wide effort to restructure people. They are looking for a Sr. Change Manager who will be the person-side anchor of this effort: building trust with stakeholders at every level (from frontline staff to vice-president leadership), tracking sentiment and readiness across key groups, and helping shape the direction of the initiative as new information surfaces — not simply executing a plan that's already been finalized. This is a highly relational, high-visibility role for someone who is energized by ambiguity, comfortable coaching executives, and skilled at translating complex technical change into plain language.
This is a fixed-term, opportunity funded through December 2027, tied directly to the timeline of the realignment initiative. The role is hybrid, based in Fort Collins, CO, with an expectation of on-site presence several days per week (candidates commuting from the greater Denver/Boulder/Longmont area will be considered).
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead change management strategies and plans across Discovery, Design, Transition, and Implementation phases of a large-scale IT realignment initiative.
- Conduct stakeholder analyses and change-impact assessments, and integrate change activities into the broader project timeline and work breakdown structure.
- Track and interpret stakeholder sentiment across key groups on an ongoing basis — identifying supporters, detractors, and neutral parties, and adjusting engagement strategy accordingly.
- Design and help deliver training programs and materials for end users, managers, and stakeholders affected by the change.
- Coach and advise executives, managers, and change champions on leading change within their own teams and departments.
- Administer pulse surveys and other feedback tools to assess readiness and adoption, analyze results, and adjust plans in response.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across colleges, departments, and distributed IT functions to understand existing processes and change impacts.
- Identify risk and resistance points, develop mitigation strategies, and communicate status regularly to project and initiative leadership.
- Produce clear reporting on change progress using an established change management methodology (e.g., ADKAR/Prosci).
- Support communications deliverables tied to the initiative, including website content updates and stakeholder communications.
- Provide change management support for related legacy technology rollouts as needed (e.g., infrastructure consolidation, organization-wide software deployments).
- Coordinate closely with project management and communications teams to keep all workstreams aligned.
Minimum Experience
- 3 years of experience in organizational change management, strategic communications, training and development, or a closely related field.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, organizational development, communications, public administration, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education and experience (a high school diploma/GED plus 4 years of directly related experience will also be considered).
- Demonstrated experience designing and leading change management strategies, plans, and related project documentation.
- Experience facilitating recurring meetings and workshops with stakeholders across multiple departments or business units.
- Strong ability to translate complex, technical concepts into clear language for non-technical audiences, including:
- Working directly with IT and technical teams to understand initiatives
- Communicating impact and next steps to business stakeholders and executives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort operating in an iterative, discovery-driven environment where the plan continues to evolve based on stakeholder feedback.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Additional Plus
- Prosci Certified Change Practitioner or Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP) certification.
- Direct experience applying Prosci/ADKAR methodology in a live initiative, even without formal certification.
- Experience in higher education, particularly with cybersecurity, IT operating model, or technology alignment projects.
- Experience designing and delivering end-user training programs in support of technology or process change.
- Familiarity with project management approaches, tools, and the phases of the project lifecycle.
- Experience supporting large-scale organizational change in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
