Back to the role:
Reporting to the Controller, the Project Accountant II manages the accounting life cycle of highly complex projects with a high level of proficiency, accuracy and understanding of construction accounting reporting. Ability to express themselves verbally and written in a clear concise manner and be highly organized.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Overall understanding of accounting procedures, general ledger and subsidiary reports
- Proficient in understanding financial sections within contract documents
- Ability to create complex reports collaboratively with internal and external parties
- Experience in multi project accounting reporting requirements of various sizes, stages of life cycle with various owner and agency reporting requirements
- Timely processing of reports including project and subcontractor closeout efficiently and accurately
- Monitor projects actual vs budget reporting for variances with the foresight and ability to deep dive and provide the team with constructive feedback and guidance.
- Review ACR & budget vs actual monthly general conditions report for quarterly analysis
- Reconcile and properly classify project cost and billing deferral based on project type and preconstruction agreement
- Identify areas of improvement to assist in accuracy of reporting as well as efficiency providing potential solutions.
- Create, review and monitor project cash flow and revenue assisting in resolving any variances
- Experience in analyzing and projecting revenue and expenses over the lifecycle of general contract projects
- Ability to review and understand trade billing rate schedules when requested by the project team
- Assist with training and development of new, current, jr and project account I level team members
- Performs task independently
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- 6-9 years of Accounting/Finance experience
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel (Excel Certified preferred)
- Sage Intacct and Procore a
- Must possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, strong analytical skills
- Must be highly organized with attention to details, results oriented and capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
- Ability to safely navigate a construction site which includes the following: climbing ladders and stairs, use of job hoists, inclement weather conditions, hazardous/cluttered and dark area, etc.

Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
