Handyman

We are looking for a Handyman to assist with the maintenance of our residential buildings and to build the best team possible. This person is primarily responsible for performing general maintenance tasks on a daily basis.

Essential Duties and responsibilities;

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Inspect all mechanical rooms and report results into log check
• Respond to tenants requests for maintenance services, including replacing air filters, repairing locks and troubleshooting smoke detectors
• General plumbing repairs such as toilets, faucets, and minor leaks
• Test performance of in-unit appliances, such as refrigerators, microwaves, stoves and ovens
• Repair and replace general hardware such as doors, doorknobs, locks, and broken tiles
• Cosmetic updates to apartments, entrances, and common areas such as painting, plaster, sanding, and wallpaper installation
• Maintenance and upkeep of cooling towers and boilers, as well as assisting in repairs of heating and HVAC systems
• Report daily to the Resident Manager and update on repairs thru email correspondence
• Assist in snow removal on sidewalks and driveways
• Perform other duties as assigned by management 

• Union position, hourly rate based on 3 years experience working in a rental building
• FACP certificate, a plus
• Basic carpentry and electrical skills
• Good communication and time management skills
• Standpipe sprinkler certificates
• Problem solver with attention to detail
• Friendly, positive team player
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to follow instructions
