Position Overview
The Door Company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Commercial Door & Hardware Estimator to join our growing team. This position is responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications, preparing accurate bid proposals, coordinating material takeoffs, and supporting project execution for commercial door, frame, and hardware packages.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, the ability to read blueprints and specifications, and experience in the commercial construction or building materials industry.
Responsibilities
- Review architectural plans, specifications, and project documents
- Perform detailed takeoffs for:
- Hollow metal frames
- Wood doors
- Hollow metal doors
- Finish hardware
- Specialty doors and related products
- Prepare accurate and competitive bid proposals
- Communicate with suppliers and manufacturers for pricing and lead times
- Coordinate with project managers, vendors, contractors, and field personnel
- Track bid opportunities and follow up on submitted estimates
- Assist with submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Maintain organized records of estimates and project files
- Ensure estimates align with project specifications and applicable codes
Qualifications
- Experience in commercial estimating, construction materials, or door & hardware industry
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications
- Knowledge of commercial doors, frames, and hardware is required
- Strong math and organizational skills
- Proficient with computers, email, spreadsheets, and estimating software
- Ability to multitask and manage deadlines
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Self-motivated with attention to detail
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Division 8 products
- Familiarity with hardware schedules and door/frame specifications
- Experience using Bluebeam, Excel, or similar software
- Understanding of construction timelines and commercial project coordination
