BROOME STREET ACADEMY CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL IS CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SOCIAL WORK INTERNS.
This is an unpaid internship, and you must coordinate with your school to receive credit for your participation.
We invite Master's Degree level students who are majoring in Social Work to apply.

Broome Street Academy is a tuition-free public charter high school devoted to providing students the necessary skills and support to graduate prepared for a successful future beyond high school. Our admissions policy gives preference to siblings and students who are homeless, in foster care, or from low performing schools. Responsibilities:
- Develop and facilitate innovative support groups for students in topics such as Healthy Relationships, Time Management, and more, to diverse adolescent populations utilizing evidence-based group curriculums
- Attend mandatory weekly supervision, and administrative meetings when needed
- Provide case coordination and crisis intervention to adolescents with attendance issues
- Coordinate closely with the social workers, teachers, and administrators to coordinate support for our students.
- Make appropriate referrals for students who need additional mental health support.
- Participate in the development of school-wide prevention, initiatives, and policies related to building positive school culture, social/emotional health, and the welfare of students
- Work with teachers to address the individual needs of students
- Keep students on task and give feedback about progress
- Perform other duties assigned as a member of the BSA community
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in MSW program
- Ability to work effectively with adolescents, families, professionals and other personnel from a wide range of cultural, social, and economic backgrounds.
- Experience with working with adolescents preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
