What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dog Trainer - Lead position at THE DOG SPOT?
We’re looking for a motivated, reliable, and dog-savvy individual to join our team as a part-time Dog Trainer at The Dog Spot.
This role is perfect for someone who already has hands-on experience working with dogs and is looking to grow their skills in a structured, real-world training environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Work directly with dogs in training programs (foundation skills, leash work, behavior work, etc.)
- Assist with daily care, kennel duties, and maintaining a clean, safe environment
- Handle dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and energy levels
- Learn and apply our balanced training approach (clear communication, structure, and accountability)
- Communicate with clients and help guide them through lessons
- Support trainers during sessions and eventually lead lessons independently
What We’re Looking For:
- Prior experience working with dogs (training experience preferred)
- Open-minded and willing to learn a balanced training approach
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Comfortable handling multiple dogs and working in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills with both dogs and people
- Team-oriented, dependable, and detail-focused
Bonus (Not Required):
- Formal dog training certifications
- Experience teaching lessons or working with clients
- Familiarity with balanced training methods
