BUDTENDER

Reports to: Store Manager - Pittsburgh, PA

Job Summary

The Budtender is a retail sales professional responsible for creating an outstanding customer experience in a regulated retail environment. You'll consult with customers, recommend products tailored to their needs, and ensure every interaction reflects THE Dispensary's commitment to education, professionalism, and care. Candidates who are personable, detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced environment will excel in this role.

What You'll Do

Customer Experience

  • Greet and engage customers in a friendly, welcoming, and professional manner
  • Consult with customers to understand their needs and guide them toward the right products
  • Demonstrate and explain merchandise, making personalized recommendations
  • Answer product and store questions confidently and accurately
  • Inform customers of current promotions, discounts, and special offers
  • Provide customer feedback and insights to store leadership

Transactions & Compliance

  • Process sales, returns, and exchanges accurately using the store's point-of-sale system
  • Verify customer identification and ensure full compliance with state laws and company regulations
  • Handle cash and electronic payments accurately and maintain accountability for assigned cash drawers
  • Follow loss prevention procedures and promptly report suspected theft, fraud, safety concerns, or policy violations

Store Operations

  • Retrieve merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations
  • Place special orders as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming retail environment
  • Perform general cleaning and maintenance of sales floors, product displays, restrooms, break rooms, and office areas
  • Stay current on new products, services, and promotions

  • Contribute to a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment
  • Work shifts as scheduled at Pittsburgh location based on operational needs
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and compliance standards at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule & Availability

  • Flexible availability required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • May be scheduled for opening, mid, or closing shifts
  • Must be available to work at Pittsburgh store location as scheduled

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must pass all required background checks
  • Must remain compliant with all legal and company regulations
  • Must maintain confidentiality of customer information, pricing, and internal company practices

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two or more years of retail experience preferred
