The Discovery Preschools is looking for a reliable and experienced Chef to join our team! Our Chef is responsible for preparing fresh, nutritious meals on-site for our preschool children each day.
Position Overview
The Chef will independently prepare fresh breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks on-site while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen. This is an independent position, so the ideal candidate should be comfortable managing the kitchen, following menus, and preparing meals throughout the day.
Responsibilities
- Prepare fresh meals on-site each day
- Prepare and serve daily breakfast, lunch, and PM snack
- Follow established menus and portion guidelines
- Prepare nutritious meals that are appropriate for young children
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Properly store and rotate food and ingredients
- Receive and put away the weekly food delivery
- Monitor food inventory and communicate when supplies are needed
- Keep track of food expiration dates and minimize food waste
- Clean kitchen equipment, surfaces, and food preparation areas
- Be mindful of children's food allergies and dietary restrictions
- Work independently and manage daily kitchen responsibilities efficiently
Qualifications
- Previous experience working as a cook or chef is required
- Experience preparing meals for children or in a childcare/school setting is a plus
- Strong organization and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation practices
- Reliable and dependable
- Comfortable lifting and putting away food deliveries
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
