Clinical Director, CSS

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinical Director is responsible for the clinical (patient care, utilization of services) components of Dimock’s Crisis Stabilization Service program. This program serves individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. This position provides supervision to the clinical and residential staff. The Clinical Director ensures that the residential program provides evidence-based and trauma-informed, quality care at all times in a culturally competent manner. The Clinical Director works collaboratively with the Program Director in making admission, continued stay, and discharge decisions. This position ensures quick access to care for clients and is responsible for high utilization rates. The Clinical Director provides direct care to clients as needed as well as direct individual and group clinical supervision to all counseling staff, recovery specialists, overnight awake staff, and case managers. This position supervises student interns and ensures that all documentation, including assessments and treatment plans, are completed in accordance with regulatory and Joint Commission guidelines. The Clinical Director supports staff in developing skills to respond to the complexities of co-occurring disorders and trauma.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience and Licensure Requirements:
An individual who is a LADC I, or other independently licensed individual who has at least a master's degree in one of the following disciplines or a closely related field: clinical psychology, education-counseling, medicine, mental health, psychology, psychiatric nursing, rehabilitative counseling, social work; and two years of supervised substance use disorder counseling experience; and at least one year full-time equivalent year of clinical supervisory experience.

Prior to January 1, 2026, Senior Clinicians may include an individual who possesses at least a master's degree in one of the following disciplines or a closely related field: clinical psychology, education-counseling, medicine, mental health, psychology, psychiatric nursing, rehabilitative counseling, social work; and two years of supervised substance use disorder counseling experience; at least one year full-time equivalent year of clinical supervisory experience; and has acted as Senior Clinician for more than two years.

Required: Two years of experience working in a clinical setting with a primary focus on addiction. Prior management experience including leadership of staff and responsibility for budgets. Ability to facilitate groups, work with a team of clinicians, and maintain excellent patient file documentation. Knowledge and experience in co-occurring disorders and trauma. Firm grounding in principles of behavioral health administration and ability to organize, manage, promote, and evaluate services. Knowledge of financial management processes including budget development and financial reporting. Demonstrated ability to leverage marketing and public relations activities to maintain patient census.

Preferred: Three to five years of experience in a large, complex organization. Experience in a hospital or healthcare environment. Proficiency in the use of technology including AI tools and electronic medical records.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Duties may require standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods. Light lifting may be required.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Maintains partial caseload as determined by program needs, providing individual, family, and group treatment.
Leads clinical, multidisciplinary, and staff meetings as assigned.
Develops and implements quality improvement initiatives.
Ensures documentation is completed timely in accordance with regulatory and Joint Commission requirements.
Completes chart audits.
Collaborates with clinical supervisors and service lines to ensure integrated care.
Develops relationships with community service providers.
Fulfills role of Program Director in their absence.
Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations including Joint Commission and BSAS.
Facilitates onboarding of new staff.
Maintains 90% program utilization and high clinical productivity.
Provides individual and group supervision to staff.
Provides oversight for all chart documentation.
Conducts biopsychosocial assessments.
Collaborates with Program Director on admission, treatment, and discharge decisions.
Ensures clients meet ASAM requirements for level of care.
Ensures BSAS and other performance measures are met.
Establishes and maintains high-quality resident care standards.
Leads initiatives and coordinates resources.
Develops and manages community relations strategies.
Ensures timely access to care and coordinates intake functions.
Oversees development and quality of assessments and treatment plans.
Responsible for effectiveness of clinical interventions.
Provides on-call support and direction.
Develops and oversees treatment modalities including individual and group services.
Assesses effectiveness of clinical practices and participates in performance improvement initiatives.
Coordinates integrated care model practices including pharmacy, primary care, and MAT services.
Manages staff education and provides training on evidence-based practices.
Assists in strategic planning initiatives.
Ensures a climate of cultural competence.
Supervises records management and HIPAA compliance.
Attends community, agency, and department meetings.
Responds to inquiries regarding patient care.
Performs other duties as assigned.
