Counselor / Social Worker, Clinical Stabilization Services (CSS)

  • Hours: 7am - 3:30pm from Friday to Monday. You must be able to work this schedule every week
  • Pay: $29/hr - $38/hr dependent on related experience, education and licensure

Our Behavioral Health Services programs provide residential and outpatient treatment for individuals experiencing mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders. For many individuals and families, these programs are life-changing and life-saving.

Summary/Objective

Under the direction of the Clinical Director and as part of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, medical professionals, and Behavioral Health Specialists, the Counselor / Social Worker provides clinical services for patients in Clinical Stabilization Services (CSS). This role includes completing biopsychosocial assessments, providing individual and group counseling, and coordinating care to support stabilization and recovery. The Counselor delivers patient-centered, evidence-based treatment that helps individuals progress toward treatment goals and the next level of care.

Essential Functions

  • Develop biopsychosocial assessments and individualized treatment plans for assigned patients.
  • Provide individual counseling, supportive therapy, and psychoeducational groups utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Maintain an assigned caseload and provide individual sessions multiple times per week as clinically appropriate.
  • Provide counseling in individual, family, and group settings to support treatment progress.
  • Collaborate with case managers and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate referrals and appropriate levels of care.
  • Conduct crisis prevention, intervention, and risk assessments, escalating concerns to appropriate clinical leadership when necessary.
  • Complete all required documentation including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and insurance documentation in accordance with agency, DPH, and BSAS standards.
  • Participate in daily team meetings, clinical meetings, and assigned trainings.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and accumulate hours toward licensure when applicable.
  • Maintain professional relationships with patients and staff and adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

  • This position operates in a clinical treatment setting.

Physical Demands

  • Duties may require sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting throughout the workday.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This role works Friday through Monday from 7:00am to 3:30pm. Candidates must be able to consistently work this schedule each week.

Required Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a closely related field required. Master’s degree completed or in progress is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a substance use disorder treatment setting.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle required.

Preferred Experience

  • Licensure as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC I or II), Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC), or Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (CADAC).
  • Master’s Degree in Counseling or Social Work (MSW), completed or in progress.
  • LCSW or LICSW licensure.
  • Spanish language proficiency.
