About the Company

The Digital Archive Group (TDAG) is a leader in the creation of digital archives for museums, libraries, leading brands, sports teams, entertainers, corporations and other organizations with important collections.

About the Role

We are looking for Digital Technicians to join our team at our archival and digitization facility in Buffalo Grove, IL. This is a hands-on position where you will work with photographs, documents, books, film and other historical materials while using professional scanning and imaging equipment to transform physical collections into high-quality digital assets. You don't have to be an archivist to succeed here. We are looking for people who are fast, focused, technically capable, detail-oriented and comfortable doing repetitive work well. The collections are often fascinating and the clients are notable, but much of the job involves following established processes, operating equipment, meeting production goals and maintaining consistently high quality. If you enjoy working with technology, photography, physical materials and a team—and take pride in getting things done accurately and efficiently—we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Operate professional scanning and digitization equipment to capture a wide range of archival materials
  • Scan documents, books, magazines, newspapers, photographs, film, maps, blueprints, and oversized items
  • Prepare, organize, sort, and rehouse physical materials for digitization
  • Follow established workflows and meet daily production targets
  • Perform quality control to ensure digital files meet TDAG’s standards
  • Process and edit digital images using Capture One, Lightroom, Photoshop, and Adobe Bridge
  • Complete post‐processing, file conversion, and preparation of digital assets in multiple formats
  • Enter and apply descriptive metadata to newly created digital files
  • Track project progress and maintain accurate production records
  • Organize digital files and prepare materials for client delivery and digital asset management
  • Identify digital assets that may support client storytelling, marketing, or social media
  • Learn and operate multiple types of digitization equipment and software
  • Assist in training team members on equipment and production processes
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and fellow Technicians to keep projects moving efficiently
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment
  • Handle valuable and irreplaceable materials with care and responsibility

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience and technical aptitude considered
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency with both Apple and Windows platforms
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus
  • Experience with Lightroom, Capture One, Photoshop, Adobe Bridge, or ABBYY FineReader is a plus
  • Previous experience with scanning, photography, or imaging equipment is a plus
  • Experience in production, imaging, printing, photography, library, museum, or archival environments is a plus
  • Ability to learn and operate specialized digitization equipment
  • Reliable transportation to our Buffalo Grove facility

Required Skills

  • Highly detail‐oriented and organized
  • Comfortable performing repetitive tasks for extended periods
  • Able to work efficiently while maintaining consistent quality
  • Dependable and able to meet deadlines and daily production goals
  • Comfortable learning new equipment, technology, and software
  • A strong team player who can also work independently
  • Comfortable following established procedures and workflows
  • Interested in photography, technology, history, physical collections, or digital media
  • Able to sit, stand, and work at a computer or scanning station for extended periods
  • Comfortable handling physical materials carefully and safely

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with specialized digitization equipment
  • Experience in archival environments
