The Dawes Arboretum is actively recruiting a Graphic Designer to join our Marketing & Communications department. This is a full-time, exempt level position.

The Graphic Designer supports The Arboretum’s visual communication efforts by creating compelling and cohesive designs across print, digital and multimedia platforms. This position ensures that all creative materials align with the organization’s brand identity and effectively communicate key messages to diverse audiences.


Some of the specific responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute design concepts for print and digital materials, including but not limited to brochures, reports, advertisements, signage, presentations, event collateral, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team and other internal stakeholders to translate ideas and strategies into engaging visual content.
  • Identify branding gaps; develop systems of review and maintain brand consistency across all creative assets, establishing and adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Develop and implement a cohesive visual style guide (fonts, colors, imagery) and templates that tie together all printed materials and graphics under the Dawes brand.
  • Review, update and maintain existing branded collateral such as brochures, flyers, posters, rack cards and website graphics.
  • Utilize and stay up to date on design software, photography, videography or other resources to produce visually appealing and professional content.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, digital media, graphic design or related field.
  • Three (3) years of professional design experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, editing, grammar, and proofreading).
  • Excellent organization and project planning skills, with the ability to work under pressure, balance competing priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

The annual salary range for this position is $45,000-$50,000.


This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement upon successful completion of onboarding and demonstrated ability to perform duties independently. This specific hybrid schedule requires a minimum of three (3) days per week in-office and is subject to supervisor approval, operational needs, and sustained performance. Hybrid status is not guaranteed and may be modified or discontinued at any time based on business needs.
