Education
Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) and 5 to 10 years of experience, or 10 to 15 years of prior relevant experience in utility substation engineering.
- Understanding of the utility grid (power generation, transmission, and distribution) system.
- Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion with business information.
- Self-motivated, ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, reliable, trustworthy, as well as technically competent.
- Demonstrated time management skills.
- Proven AutoCAD or MicroStation skills.
- Microsoft Office based applications.
Experience
Perform substation design tasks, develop design drawings and document, prepare material lists, perform field reviews, and other tasks for projects.
- Prepare substation related drawings such as one lines, plan views, electrical assemblies, structural details, foundation details, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other engineering drawings.
- Perform calculations, reports, and designs on substation projects to support engineers.
- Understand client standards and complete projects by performing simple to moderately complex tasks, exercising judgment in design criteria, evaluation, and design.
