Sr. Mechanical Designer (Contract-to-Hire)
We are partnering with a growing engineering organization seeking a Sr. Mechanical Designer to support industrial and manufacturing projects. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for an experienced designer with strong piping, equipment layout, and plant design experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop piping layouts, equipment arrangements, and mechanical design packages for industrial projects.
- Create and maintain detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings in accordance with company, customer, and industry standards.
- Review project specifications and design requirements to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Generate complete drawing packages, including revisions and as-built documentation.
- Perform design-related calculations and engineering analyses to support design validation.
- Participate in design reviews and collaborate with engineering, operations, and project teams.
- Conduct field verification and site walks as required to support project execution.
Qualifications
- Experience in mechanical design and drafting within industrial, manufacturing, process, or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Piping isometrics
- Piping plans and elevations
- Equipment layouts
- Structural and foundation drawings
- Ventilation and utility systems
- Ability to read, interpret, and modify existing P&IDs and piping isometric drawings.
- Experience routing new piping systems and modifying existing process piping.
- Familiarity with industrial process equipment and plant layouts.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD design software.
- Experience with structural platforms, pipe racks, concrete structures, or stormwater/drainage systems is a plus.
- Chemical, process, or manufacturing industry experience preferred.
