Server / Bartender

Overview
We are seeking a friendly and dynamic Server / Bartender "hybrid" to join our team at The Darling Oyster Bar in Downtown Savannah.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing exceptional guest service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons.

Responsibilities

• Greet and engage guests in a warm, friendly manner.
• Provide knowledgeable recommendations on oysters, raw bar items, entrees, and beverage pairings.
• Answer guest questions about sourcing, flavor profiles, and preparation styles.
• Anticipate guest needs and provide attentive service throughout the meal.
• Order Taking & Service
• Accurately take food and beverage orders and enter them into Toast POS system.
• Serve menu items in a timely and polished manner.
• Assist guests in understanding condiments, sauces, and accompaniments.
• Ensure correct presentation and quality of dishes before delivery.
• Oyster & Raw Bar Knowledge
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of oyster varieties, regions, and tasting notes.
• Educate guests on oyster terminology (salinity, texture, size, etc.).
• Stay informed on seasonal menu changes and daily oyster selections.
• Cleanliness & Organization
• Keep service stations, oyster bar counters, and tables clean and stocked.
• Assist shuckers and bar team with sidework as needed.
• Teamwork & Communication
• Work closely with the culinary team, bartenders, and other servers for smooth service flow.
• Communicate guest preferences and feedback to leadership.
• Support other staff during peak service (running food, clearing tables, etc.).

Requirements

• 5 years previous experience in a similar capacity is required.
• Strong customer service skills with a focus on hospitality.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on Toast POS.
• Strong oyster and seafood knowledge is preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
• A positive attitude and willingness to help others are essential traits for success in this role.
