The Dalton School seeks a 4 th Grade Teacher and House Advisor Leave Replacement from February - June 2025. 4 th Grade House Advisors teach an integrated Language Arts and Social Studies class, co-teach Math with specialists, and support their advisees through our House curriculum. The ideal candidate is passionate and knowledgeable about progressive elementary and early middle school education and differentiation. Curricular content in 4 th Grade includes a year-long study of European and Chinese immigration, the Transatlantic Slave Trade, literary studies and analysis, and the writing process, which incorporates links to literature and social studies explorations.

Responsibilities
- Teach Language Arts and Social Studies (LASS).
- Collaborate with other House Advisors, Learning Support Specialists, and Department Chairs.
- Co-Teach Math with a member of the Math Department in a heterogenous, differentiated math classroom setting.
- House Advise, serving as the primary point of contact for the students and parents.
- Collaborate with other 4 th Grade House Advisors to develop House curriculum on grade-specific topics and community building programs. House lessons cover a wide range of topics, including social-emotional learning, health and wellness activities, and lessons on digital communication and citizenship
- Communicate information regarding student progress through progress notices, checklist reports, and other student support meetings.
- Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
- Experience teaching upper Elementary/early Middle School grades (3-5), in Language Arts, Social Studies, and Math.
- Experience developing humanities curriculum.
- Places value in using an asset based, whole child approach to supporting students.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong commitment to collaborate in support of students and the curriculum.
- Is a reflective practitioner who possesses a willingness to grow professionally.
- Ability to manage, take initiative on, prioritize and follow through.
