The Daily News, an award-winning newspaper in Jacksonville, N.C., is seeking a talented, inquisitive and detail-oriented staff writer to join a company dedicated to quality journalism.
A journalism degree and one to two years of experience preferred but a similar degree and experience will be considered. Knowledge of Associated Press style, experience with photography and the ability to write news, features and longer-form stories are essential to the position. Multimedia skills are a bonus.
The right candidate will be passionate about storytelling, maintain a standard of excellence and support the public’s right to know. The position requires the ability to work independently while also working as a team with other reporters in the region.
The Daily News has a longstanding reputation of being one of the best news towns in the state. Jacksonville is home to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, and Onslow County reflects the diversity of the area from small fishing villages to rural towns to coastal communities. The city is also located within a short driving distance to several beaches.
The Daily News is owned by Paxton Media Group, a family-owned company founded in 1896 and based in Paducah, Kentucky.
