What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sports writer position at The Daily News Iron Mountain MI?
The North Woods country is calling. The Daily News in Iron Mountain, Michigan, on the border of Michigan's Upper Peninsula and northeastern Wisconsin, needs a sports writer. We take pride in highlighting prep sports in five counties on both sides of the border and, while off the beaten path, we've had area teams make it to state championship games almost every year for more than a decade. The past school year saw one Wisconsin football state title, a Michigan runner-up finish in baseball, and deep runs by area volleyball and basketball teams. Off the job, the region offers outdoor recreation: biking, hiking, kayaking and canoeing, camping, fishing, hunting, ATV and snowmobile trails, all easily accessible. (And, yes, moose — really, we have photos.) Yet we're within a few hours' drive of major metro areas for day or weekend trips. Photography skills and InDesign pagination experience are essential. If interested or just intrigued, email your resume and clips to managing editor Betsy Bloom at bbloom@ironmountaindailynews.com.
