What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Safety Reporter position at The Daily Memphian?
The Daily Memphian is looking for an experienced journalist to join our metro team as the public safety beat reporter.
The ideal candidate would have strong news judgment and excellent writing and story organization skills. They should be able to handle daily beat coverage in conjunction with weekly enterprise stories primarily focused on crime, courts and law enforcement. Knowledge of Memphis and its various neighborhoods and communities is a definite plus, as is the ability to find stories in unlikely places and then tell those stories with compelling copy.
The public safety reporter would live and work in Memphis and would also need to adhere to all The Daily Memphian’s work policies, including in-person work. The preferred weekly schedule for this position is Sunday through Thursday.
