“Your Rebels In The Swamp” The Daily Caller News Foundation is a fast-growing, non-profit news organization committed holding the powerful to account. We are looking for an energetic, creative, and tech-savvy Video Producer & Editor to turn our investigative research into compelling visual stories.
The Role: We are seeking a Video Producer & Editor with a passion for turning bombshell investigations into deeply impactful narrative video. You will work directly with our investigative reporters and other video editors to turn in-depth analyses into viral video content, documentaries, and social media shorts. The ideal candidate loves delving into news stories and communicating them in visuals and sound that are easy to consume, memorable, and speak to the viewers' emotions.
Responsibilities:
- Investigative Storytelling: Transform exclusive investigative reports, FOIA documents, and news stories into engaging, high production value video content for social media, our website, and direct delivery to relevant political leadership.
- Editing & Motion Graphics: Edit still and motion graphics in Canva and video in Adobe Premiere Pro for news and informative video content. You will create motion graphics, animated text overlays, map overlays, and visual effects to make data-driven stories visually exciting.
- Field Production & Interviewing: Set up lighting, cameras, and audio equipment for in-studio and on-location interviews with high-profile figures.
- Rapid Turnaround: Turn investigative findings into "same-day" promotional clips and breaking news videos.
- Travel: Occasionally travel with reporters for on-the-spot investigations, documentary shooting, or high-level interviews.
Required Experience & Skills
- 2-5 years of professional video editing and production experience in a fast-paced environment (news, digital media, or documentary preferred).
- Advanced Skills: Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop) and Canva.
- Motion Graphics Proficiency: Strong portfolio of video production, ideally including motion graphics and text-based animation.
- Camera Proficiency: Solid understanding of lighting techniques (three-point lighting), audio recording, and cinematography for interviews.
- Equipment Knowledge: Ability to assemble field kits on tight deadlines and troubleshoot video production equipment independently.
- Alignment: An interest in investigative journalism and alignment with the Daily Caller News Foundation’s mission.
