Garden Center Store Manager
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Garden Center Store Manager to lead our team, drive sales, and ensure an exceptional customer experience.
The store manager is responsible for overseeing daily store operations, managing staff, maintaining high merchandising standards, and ensuring healthy, well-maintained plant inventory. This role requires strong leadership, retail management experience, and a genuine passion for plants and gardening.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all daily operations of the garden center, including opening and closing procedures
- Lead, train, schedule, and motivate store staff to deliver excellent customer service
- Maintain high standards for plant care, display, and merchandising
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate ordering of plants, supplies, and seasonal products
- Ensure proper watering, pruning, fertilizing, and general plant maintenance
- Manage sales goals, budgets, and store performance metrics
- Oversee cash handling, POS systems, and financial reporting
- Handle customer questions, concerns, and special orders
- Plan and execute seasonal promotions and displays
Qualifications
- Previous experience of retail management (garden center or horticulture experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of plants, gardening, and landscaping products preferred
- Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills
- Experience with inventory management and merchandising
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Preferred Skills
- Background in horticulture, nursery management, or landscaping
- Experience managing seasonal staff
- Familiarity with plant care practices and pest/disease identification
