Centered in community, The Cultura Media amplifies underrepresented Latinx and people of color voices, partnering with organizations focused on diversity, inclusion, immigration, and outreach to better serve monolingual Latinx audiences. 📣 Internship Opportunity: Front Desk & Communications Intern (In-Person)

Location: San Diego, CA | Schedule: Mon–Fri, 11:00 AM–7:00 PM | Start Date: ASAP

Stipend: $500 for the semester | Benefits: Mentorship, College Credit, Coffee Card, Flexible Schedule


🌎 About the Transfronterizo Institute


The Transfronterizo Institute (TFI) is a binational, student-centered initiative committed to educational equity for transborder students under The Cultura Media, aimed to support youth who live in Mexico but study in the United States.


💼 Position Overview:


We are seeking a Front Desk & Communications Intern who will serve as the welcoming face and critical communications hub of our Institute. This is not your average front desk role—this is a dynamic opportunity for a marketing- or business-minded student who wants to gain real-world experience in nonprofit communications, grassroots marketing, and community-centered administration.


This internship is perfect for someone who is passionate about advocacy, education equity, and making a tangible difference in the lives of students living between borders.



🧭 Key Responsibilities:


Administrative & Communications Support


* Greet and assist visitors, students, and families with professionalism and warmth

* Answer and manage emails, text messages, and phone calls promptly and with discretion

* Schedule and confirm appointments and meetings for staff and students

* Manage and update the organizational calendar (Google Calendar)


Digital Media & Marketing


* Create and post engaging content on social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)

* Help update the website with upcoming events, announcements, and resources

* Track engagement and assist in developing outreach strategies


Operations & Logistics


* Support the team with day-to-day office needs and event logistics

* Help maintain organized digital files and communications records

* Act as a liaison between students and staff when needed

We’re looking for a resourceful, mission-aligned intern who thrives in a fast-paced, people-centered environment.


Required Skills & Background:


* Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal)

* Current college student pursuing a degree in one of the following (or related) fields:

* Business

* Marketing

* Communications

* Public Relations

* Public Administration

* Political Science

* Education

* Social Work

* International Relations

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* High level of organization and attention to detail

* Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion

* Reliable, proactive, and able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision

* Comfortable with social media tools, Google Workspace, and learning new software

* Passion for advocacy, education access, and immigrant or border communities
