Type: Part Time - Friday 12:00 - 6:30 PM, Saturday 12:00 - 6:30 PM

Our retail shop (the “Kitchen Shop”) serves as the gateway to all that The Culinary Center of Kansas City has to offer. The Kitchen Shop offers a selection of carefully curated and time-tested must-have items for at-home chefs, classic kitchen utensils, a selection of wines, the latest and best cookbooks, locally made and specialty spices and spice blends, and other shelf-stable foods, as well as a range of fun, giftable culinary-related items. Job Description:

As a Retail Sales Associate at The Culinary Center of Kansas City, you will play a pivotal role in creating memorable culinary experiences for our guests. You will be responsible for providing exceptional guest service, assisting shoppers in finding the perfect kitchen tools and culinary products as well as that perfect cooking class experience, and representing our brand's dedication to the art of cooking. This is a part time position. We are looking specifically for someone on Friday and Saturday Afternoons.

Key Responsibilities:

• Guest Service:
• Greet and assist retail guests with a friendly and helpful demeanor, providing expert guidance on product selection, culinary knowledge, and cooking techniques. Engage with guests on topics ranging from kitchen tools to cooking classes to the guest's favorite sauce recipe!
• Greet and direct guests who are entering the store to participate in a class or private event. Interact with guests in retail space once their class or private event ends.
• Product Knowledge: Maintain a deep understanding of the products in our retail shop, including our curated high-end kitchen equipment and tools, wines and shelf-stable foods, and the latest cookbooks. Be prepared to answer guest inquiries and make product recommendations. Stay up-to-date with the latest culinary trends and product offerings.
• Sales and Upselling: Actively engage with guests to drive sales and achieve personal and store sales targets. Suggest complementary items and upsell products and services (cooking classes and private events) that enhance the guest's culinary experience.
• Light Visual Merchandising: Assist in maintaining the visual appeal of the store by arranging product displays, restocking shelves, and ensuring the store is organized and clean.
• Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, participate in regular inventory counts, and constantly communicate with management regarding restocking needs.
• Teamwork: Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the store runs smoothly and efficiently. Work together to create an exceptional shopping experience for guests.

Qualifications:

• Previous retail sales experience is preferred but not required.
• Passion for food and culinary culture.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to The Culinary Center brand and vision.
• Strong guest service orientation with a proactive and friendly attitude.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Basic math and cash-handling skills.
• A commitment to maintaining a clean and organized retail environment.
• Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work well in a team.
