We host over 500 cooking classes yearly for thousands of people and private events, interactive cooking parties, and culinary team-building sessions for local companies, organizations, families, and friend groups. Our retail store sells high-quality cooking implements, cookbooks, food items, gifts, and more.
Job Description
We’re looking for an active instructor who can prepare and lead multiple culinary classes every week. This passionate and experienced chef will be a core member of our culinary instruction team and participate in the design and creation of our broader culinary instruction program. This role requires an excellent teacher and communicator and a skilled chef with creativity, leadership abilities, and meticulous organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and teach five varied culinary classes per week to our guests, including proven concepts and newly designed classes
- Oversee the design and execution of classes with diverse seasonal menus and a wide variety of cuisines and cooking techniques
- Aid in the development of teaching standards for all our culinary courses - cooking techniques, safety practices, ingredient knowledge, and more
- Work with staff and other instructors/chefs to develop and execute fun and engaging class concepts that other instructors will lead
- Ensure food safety and sanitation protocols are strictly followed in the classroom
- Stay up to date on culinary trends and best practices; identify opportunities to enhance and update curriculum
- Assist with marketing of classes and programs; participate in open houses and recruitment events as needed
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience as a chef in a fine dining restaurant or other similar professional kitchen
- Passion for teaching
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to lead class of up to fifty students
- Outstanding culinary skills and deep knowledge of ingredients, techniques, and global cuisines
- Experience developing recipes, menus, and instructional content
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving abilities
- Degree from culinary school preferred; food safety certifications required
