What are the responsibilities and job description for the Worship Pastor position at The Crossing Church?
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Worship Pastor is a visionary and relational leader who has a heart for God and a passion for cultivating Christ-centered worship experiences. This individual will oversee and direct the worship ministry, which includes potential staff and volunteers. The ideal candidate is a high-capacity team builder who coaches and equips people.
LEADERSHIP & VISION
- Cast and steward a compelling vision for the worship ministry that aligns with the Crossing’s vision of being a place “where hope lives" to both of our campuses.
- Provide spiritual, strategic, and operational oversight for worship, production, and media ministries, including people and processes
- Build and sustain a positive culture marked by excellence, humility, unity, prayer, and spiritual depth
TEAM DEVELOPMENT & SHEPHERDING
- Recruit, mentor, and develop worship leaders, musicians, and production volunteers

- Spiritual leadership and pastoral presence
- Vocal leadership and band direction
- Team building, communication, and preparation
- Provide regular encouragement, feedback, and spiritual care for team members
COLLABORATION & CREATIVITY
- Collaborate closely with pastoral, creative, and production teams to plan and execute meaningful, Spirit-led worship experiences
- Work cross-functionally with media and production teams to support weekend services and special events
- Craft, clarify, and distribute all stage and service communications for Sunday services
PLANNING & EXECUTION
- Oversee scheduling, rehearsal planning, and service flow using Planning Center and related tools
- Ensure theological, lyrical, and musical integrity across all worship environments
- Offer platform leadership as needed, while prioritizing the development and release of other leaders
SPIRITUAL & CHARACTER
- A clear calling to worship ministry rooted in a growing, authentic relationship with Jesus
- Demonstrated spiritual maturity, integrity, and emotional health
- A shepherd’s heart with strong relational, collaborative, and interpersonal skills
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
- 5-10 years of experience leading worship and overseeing teams in a church or ministry context
- Proven ability to build, lead, and sustain healthy teams and volunteer cultures
- Skilled in vocal leadership, band and/or choir direction, and musical arrangement
- Working knowledge of production environments (audio, video, lighting) sufficient for leadership and collaboration
- Proficiency with Planning Center and other ministry planning tools

Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
