What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shoring Technician/Sandblaster position at The Crom Corporation?
Job Purpose:
Perform scaffolding duties involved in truck loading, unloading, storage, and maintenance of yard and yard materials, and sandblast materials as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Load and unload trucks, store materials, and perform various assigned tasks.
- Possess the skill to assess weights and judge distances and heights.
- Stage and load materials and equipment, ensuring the exact number and correct items are loaded.
- Responsible for strapping and securing loads onto flatbed trailers'
- Crate, band, and shrink wrap materials in preparation for shipping.
- Organize and maintain the shoring yard property.
- Perform sandblasting of all equipment before sending it to the shop for maintenance or painting.
- Perform minor maintenance on sandblast equipment.
- Coordinate with the fabrication and welding shop foreman when sandblasting materials or supplies are needed.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Observe and follow all mandatory safety procedures, including the use of all personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Perform other duties as assigned including but not limited to mechanics and servicing and be subject to temporary assignment with other supervisors.
Essential Requirements:
- Must be organized and detail oriented.
- Must possess the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Experience loading materials and equipment of different sizes and weights onto a flatbed trailer
Preferred Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Construction or other outdoor labor experience
- Ability to drive a forklift or learn.
- Welding experience or desire to learn.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License
Other requirements:
- Has dependable transportation
- Ability to pass a respirator fitting test as required.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily works outside and exposed to the elements.
- Exposed to hazardous materials.
- Exposed to frequent loud noises.
- Exposed to dangerous machinery.
- Generally, works five 8-hour days, although overtime may occur.
