Senior Wealth Advisor

The Croghan Colonial Bank
Fremont, OH Full Time
POSTED ON 8/16/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/15/2026

Position Summary

The Senior Wealth Advisor is an advanced client-facing professional responsible for leading larger, more complex, and strategically important relationships within Croghan Colonial Bank’s Wealth Management and Trust Department. The role is designed for a planning-oriented senior advisor who can integrate financial planning, tax-aware wealth strategy, estate planning coordination, investment discussions, fiduciary judgment, relationship management, business development, mentoring, and governance contribution. The position is similar in many respects to a senior or lead advisor in a planning-centric RIA, but it operates within a bank trust environment using Croghan’s fiduciary and trust capabilities. This is not a broker-dealer producer role, and securities licensing is not required for the core position unless Croghan separately assigns licensed activities through approved channels.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead larger, more complex, higher-risk, multi-generational, business-owner, executive, concentrated-asset, charitable, sensitive, or strategically important relationships.
  • Serve as the senior relationship presence when complexity, retention risk, fiduciary sensitivity, family dynamics, planning complexity, tax sensitivity, or reputational exposure requires advanced judgment.
  • Develop relationship strategies across family members, entities, trusts, investment accounts, fiduciary structures, banking relationships, business interests, outside advisors, and next-generation stakeholders.
  • Lead sophisticated client and professional-advisor conversations involving estate planning, wealth transfer, fiduciary obligations, liquidity needs, portfolio strategy, tax-aware coordination, retirement income, business succession, charitable planning, incapacity, family governance, and sensitive beneficiary matters.
  • Apply advanced fiduciary judgment to governing documents, discretionary decisions, conflicts, beneficiary issues, complex distributions, unusual assets, account acceptance, account reviews, policy exceptions, and documentation requirements.
  • Recognize when legal, tax, compliance, committee, executive, investment, or fiduciary specialist review is required and coordinate that review effectively.
  • Provide senior-level planning and investment judgment where authorized, including portfolio construction review, risk assessment, cash-flow needs, concentrated positions, liquidity issues, tax considerations, and implementation tradeoffs.
  • Exercise higher delegated authority where approved by bank policy and applicable governance processes.
  • Originate, lead, and convert significant new relationships consistent with Croghan’s fiduciary capabilities, client-service capacity, planning strengths, and target market.
  • Develop durable referral relationships with attorneys, CPAs, business advisors, commercial bankers, community leaders, and other centers of influence.
  • Represent Croghan through professional, community, educational, and client-facing activities that build credibility and create new relationship opportunities.
  • Mentor Wealth Advisors, Associate Wealth Advisors, and other client-facing or support professionals through case consultation, meeting preparation, debriefing, technical coaching, documentation standards, and client communication guidance.
  • Contribute to standards for client reviews, planning quality, relationship segmentation, documentation, fiduciary escalation, client communication, business development, and professional development.
  • Participate in or support fiduciary, investment, account-acceptance, risk, audit, regulatory, policy, or governance work as assigned.
  • Identify process weaknesses, client-experience gaps, training needs, technology limitations, risk trends, and growth opportunities and recommend practical improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, economics, financial planning, law, taxation, or a related discipline preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Eight to ten or more years of progressive experience in wealth management, RIA advisory work, financial planning, tax planning, estate planning, trust administration, fiduciary services, investment management, private banking, law, accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated success independently managing complex client relationships and making high-quality decisions under fiduciary, planning, investment, service, documentation, regulatory, and reputational constraints.
  • Advanced technical competence across multiple wealth-management disciplines and the judgment to recognize when specialist, legal, tax, compliance, committee, or executive involvement is required.
  • CFP and/or CPA strongly preferred for senior candidates. JD, CTFA, CPWA, CIMA, CFA, AEP, or comparable role-relevant credentials are also highly valued depending on the candidate’s experience and assigned responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop business, cultivate referral sources, lead major prospect opportunities, mentor others, influence without relying solely on title, and raise the quality of team decision-making.
  • Securities licensing is not required for the core Senior Wealth Advisor role unless Croghan separately assigns licensed activity through approved channels.

Desired Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Backgrounds

  • Advanced planning-oriented professional with strong client relationship instincts and credible technical judgment.
  • Particularly attractive backgrounds include CFP, CPA, JD, CTFA, CPWA, CIMA, CFA, advanced planning, tax, estate planning, RIA lead advisor, family office, private wealth, or senior fiduciary advisory experience.
  • Able to lead business development in a relationship-based, fiduciary, planning-oriented manner rather than through transactional sales tactics.
  • Credible with attorneys, CPAs, business owners, executives, multi-generational families, bankers, and community leaders.
  • Willing to mentor others, share expertise, build team standards, and help institutionalize client relationships.
