What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Worker position at The County Connect?
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Service Workers are responsible for the maintenance and custodial work on County Connection vehicles, equipment, buildings and grounds. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Fueling of County Connection vehicles, including adding lubricant and coolant, and the cleaning of parts.
- Checking and servicing batteries.
- Inspecting County Connection vehicles for fluid leaks.
- Removing and replacing fare box vaults.
- Cleaning and maintaining County Connection vehicles and Maintenance facility; operating bus washing equipment.
The Service Worker classification is considered to be a safety sensitive position under the drug and alcohol testing programs issued by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Therefore, the employee is subject to substance abuse testing.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education equivalent to a high school diploma or general educational development (GED).
- Must be able to obtain a Class B Commercial driver’s license, including the required endorsements and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used to maintain a fleet of vehicles in a safe manner.
- Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions followed in heavy equipment repair shops.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to complete forms and write routine reports.
