The Country Sweep is looking for a chimney apprentice to join our team! The Chimney Apprentice is an entry-level position that provides essential support to our experienced chimney technicians and masons across all facets of the trade. Working side-by-side with the team, the apprentice assists with chimney inspections, cleanings, repairs, masonry restorations, flue relining, damper installations, and full chimney rebuilds while actively learning industry best practices, safety protocols, and technical skills. This hands-on apprenticeship is designed to develop the individual into a competent, full-time chimney technician and/or mason, offering structured on-the-job training, mentorship, and progressive responsibility that prepares them to take on independent projects and advance their career within the company. Responsibilities:
- Assist experienced chimney technicians and masons with all aspects of chimney work, including inspections, sweeping, repairs, and maintenance
- Support masonry tasks such as brick and stone repair, mortar work, chimney crown restoration, and full chimney rebuilds
- Help with flue relining, damper installations, and chimney cap replacements
- Perform chimney cleanings and prepare work sites by setting up equipment, tarps, and safety barriers
- Learn and follow all OSHA and industry safety protocols to ensure safe job site conditions at all times
- Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment from company vehicles
- Maintain tools and equipment in clean, organized, and proper working condition
- Communicate professionally with customers and team members while on job sites
- Actively participate in on-the-job training and mentorship to develop technical skills required to advance to a full-time Chimney Technician and/or Mason
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently and take on increasing levels of responsibility as skills develop
