Maintenance Manager

Position: Maintenance Manager – Beef Processing Facility

Shift: Primarily First Shift, but will be flexible to meet the needs of the organization - Saturdays Mandatory

OBJECTIVE: Reporting to the General/Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager directs and coordinates through subordinate supervisors activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance and installation of machines, tools, and equipment. The Maintenance Manager will also perform all maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of harvesting plant or other establishments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develops preventative maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
• Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and to recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment. Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
• Must be trained and take part in Lock-out Tag-out, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, SDS, Emergency procedures, Process Safety Management and Personal Protective Equipment.
• Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
• Ensures maximum efficient operations of facilities and equipment, as well as the care of all grounds and support equipment, through the direction of a technical support staff made up of supervisors, technicians, custodians, and the purchase of necessary outside technical and non-technical support services.
• Sources and works with outside contractors as needed.
• Must be able to read basic blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
• Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
• Schedules maintenance, repairs, and installation of machines, tools and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
• Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.
• Inspects operating machines and equipment for compliance with operating standards.
• Prepares departmental budget and monitors expenditure of funds within the budget.
• Abide by and support all safety policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associates Degree with preferred 5-7 years Maintenance Management experience required.
• Problem-solving, organizational, multi-tasking, customer service and analytical skills required.

Communication Skills

• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence as well as present to large groups
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, business partners, U.S.D.A., supervisors, and employees.
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus but not required

Work Environment

• The work environment is a combination of corporate and manufacturing. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to cold, hot, and/or humid conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
