We are seeking an experienced, dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant and Biller to join our outpatient mental health practice. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care within an outpatient mental health clinic. This position requires strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and coding, as well as the ability to help with patient communications and prior authorizations as well as assist with managing insurance claims, payment posting, billing follow-up, and revenue cycle operations to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. The Medical Assistant will work closely with physicians and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient flow and optimal care. The scheduled hours are Monday through Friday 12pm to 5pm in person at our Centerville office.
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient questions and medication concerns.
- Perform prior authorizations and assist with coding and insurance claims.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with medical regulations.
- Educate patients about their health conditions and provide instructions on medication administration.
- Take vitals on patients prior to appointments.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care effectively.
- Review and correct claim denials and rejections
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
- Post insurance and patient payments accurately
- Follow up on unpaid or outstanding claims
- Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claim status and appeals
- Assist patients with billing questions and payment arrangements
- Maintain accurate patient billing records in EMR/practice management systems
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
- Patient account setup and scheduling
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar role within an outpatient psychiatric or primary care setting.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology knowledge, and coding systems.
- Ability to provide compassionate patient care while maintaining professionalism.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and safety practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Minimum 1–2 years of medical billing experience preferred
- Mental health billing experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and insurance claim processes
- Experience with EMR and practice management software
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
