JOB SUMMARY
The Admissions & Assignment Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of supportive clerical tasks, admissions and assignment support, along with providing information and assistance to clients/community regarding agency services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions are duties, which are essential or primary to the position or the reason the position exits. An individual must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
1. Demonstrates understanding and practice of confidentiality in performing tasks.
2. Positively represents program through appropriate interaction, personal appearance, and attitude.
3. Conducts agency wide diagnostic screenings and determines appropriateness for all TCC services agency wide. Gathers information on individual and identifies client’s strengths, weaknesses, needs and problems in order to formulate appropriate treatment plan.
4. Performs reception duties including operation of telephone switchboard to properly direct calls, scheduling appointments, and maintaining appointment book.
5. Completes clerical work as assigned such as filing typing, generating reports.
6. Recruitment and initial screenings for Criminal Justice referral sources.
7. Coordinates and schedules bed dates for all referrals to TCC.
8. Coordinates presumptive coverage with TCC Health Information Department.
9. Prepares acceptance letters of clients being admitted from Criminal Justice referrals.
10. Maintains TCC roster.
11. Maintains TCC wait list.
12. Updates TCC Bed Boards at client admittance and upon client completion or discharge.
13. Coordinates services and bed dates for referrals from Foundations and Crisis Center.
14. Coordinates services for potential clients on the TCC wait list.
15. Acts as a TCC contact point for Criminal Justice referral sources.
16. Acts as TCC representative and member of the Portsmouth Municipal Drug Court and the Scioto County Family Drug Court.
17. Maintains appointment book/scheduling as directed.


SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
Secondary functions are duties which are exclusive of the position, can be performed by other positions; however, secondary duties are to be performed for the efficiency of The Counseling Center, Inc.
18. Covers duties of any absent employee in order to ensure continuity of care.
19. Performs any other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator/Director.

2. Skill in operating office machinery with speed and accuracy
3. Ability in the area of effective communication and interpersonal skills with public and co-workers
4. Demonstrates appropriate understanding of working with confidential material and situations
5. Ability to understand and assimilate new information quickly


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, INCLUDING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
1. High School diploma or equivalent
2. Prior experience in an office setting of a least one (1) year preferred and/or formal secretarial training including computer experience
3. Knowledge about the disease of alcohol addiction preferred
