Title: Grants & Institutional Giving Manager
Department/Team: Planning & Development
Reports to: Director of Development & Communications
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Council on Recovery is seeking an experienced Grants & Institutional Giving Manager to support institutional fundraising efforts through grant management, donor communications, and strategic fundraising initiatives. The ideal candidate:
- Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented

- Able to work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, relationship-oriented, and comfortable engaging with donors, board members, and community stakeholders
- Critical thinker with strong emotional intelligence and discretion
- Proven experience in donor cultivation, grant writing, and fundraising communications
- Functional knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or similar donor management software
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to manage competing priorities and shifting deadlines
- Willingness to work occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed for events and organizational activities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCY CRITERIA
- Work directly with the Director of Development & Communications to develop, implement, and manage fundraising strategies for foundations, institutional funders, and corporate partners throughout the fundraising cycle
- Identify new funding opportunities and collaborate with the Director of Development & Communications, leadership, and board members to leverage relationships and connections with foundation trustees and corporate leaders
- Prepare high-quality, compelling, and accurate grant proposals and reports while managing deadlines and deliverables
- Ensure timely submission of all proposals and reports in accordance with funder requirements and deadlines
- Maintain and update a comprehensive grants pipeline, using appropriate software to track donor data activity, communications, deadlines, and other relevant information
- Participate in external meetings and engagements with foundation and corporate partners as appropriate
- Develop persuasive written appeals, donor communications, and stewardship materials for a variety of fundraising initiatives and campaigns
- Assist with special event fundraising as needed with written solicitations, gift procurement, and event execution
- Lead the coordination of all required grant materials through timely and effective collaboration with the development team, program staff, accounting department, board members, and leadership
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 3-5 years of successful fundraising experience with proven and measurable results
- 3-5 years of experience writing grants, donor solicitations, and related communications
- Experience in major gifts fundraising, securing gifts at the $100,000 level
- Experience creating and implementing fundraising campaigns
- Experience in relationship building and management
- Experience working with diverse stakeholder
