Full Job Description Are you handy, detail-oriented, and passionate about preserving unique spaces? We are seeking a reliable, part-time Maintenance and Janitorial Assistant to care for our beautiful historic commercial property. In this role, you will help keep our building safe, clean, and fully operational. You do not need to be a licensed contractor, but you must possess a solid foundation of basic hand-tool knowledge, a strong work ethic, and a respectful eye for preserving historic craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Light Janitorial: Keep common areas, entryways, and restrooms clean and stocked.
- Basic Repairs: Fix loose hardware, patch drywall, paint, and handle minor carpentry.
- Property Upkeep: Clear walkways, change lightbulbs, and manage trash/recycling removal.
- System Monitoring: Conduct routine visual checks of plumbing, heating, and cooling systems.
- Vendor Liaison: Identify larger issues and escort specialized contractors when needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 1–2 years of experience in general maintenance, handyman work, or facility upkeep.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with basic hand/power tools and safe working practices.
- Attributes: Self-motivated, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
- Bonus: Previous experience working with historic structures or older plumbing/electrical layout is a plus!
