Position Overview
The Malibu Farmers Market is seeking a confident, detail-oriented Farmers Market Operations Inspector to support weekly Sunday market operations. This role focuses on internal inspection, compliance monitoring, and operational oversight to ensure the Market runs smoothly and meets established standards.
This position requires a professional presence and the ability to enforce standards calmly, clearly, and consistently. The role is not social or customer-facing in nature.
Schedule
- Sundays only
- Arrival time: 8:30 AM
- Departure: Immediately upon completion of assigned duties
- No lingering on premises before or after the shift
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a full walkthrough inspection of the Market upon arrival
- Monitor vendor setups and operations to ensure compliance with Market rules and procedures (training provided)
- Perform internal pre-inspection checks prior to visits from external inspectors
- Identify, document, and report issues related to setup, safety, cleanliness, and compliance
- Address non-compliance by documenting issues and escalating through proper internal channels
- Walk the Market throughout the shift to observe operations and flag concerns
- Use basic mobile apps as required (training provided)
- Occasionally capture simple photos or short videos for internal documentation purposes
- Maintain authority, professionalism, and objectivity at all times
Professional Conduct Requirements
- This role is not social in nature
- No shopping or personal activities during the shift
- No interaction with vendors during or after the Market
- Any interaction with vendors outside assigned duties, including before or after the Market, is considered a conflict of interest
- Employee must leave the premises immediately upon completion of assigned responsibilities
