The Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG) was established in 1951 by Corning Glass Works (now Corning Incorporated) as a gift to the nation commemorating the company’s 100th anniversary. CMoG is an independent not-for-profit museum dedicated to exploring a single material: glass. Welcoming more than 300,000 annual visitors from around the world, the Museum's campus is home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of glass, the world’s foremost library on glass, and one of the premier glassworking schools in the world. Glass is a versatile, ancient material that is still being explored and understood by artists, scientists, and historians today. The story of glass is a story about art, history, culture, technology, science, craft, and design. 50,000 objects representing more than 3,500 years of history are included in the Museum’s collection—ranging from a portrait of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh to a 200-inch telescope lens to contemporary sculpture. The Museum regularly publishes journals, educational videos and scholarly publications—many of which can be accessed online from anywhere in the world.

Summary

The Events Production Crew provides technical support for internal and external events at The Corning Museum of Glass (Museum), assisting with the setup, operation, and teardown of audio, video, lighting, and staging systems. Working under the guidance of the Production Lead Technician and the Events Production and Programs Manager, this role ensures that event specifications are met, presentation materials are supported, and equipment is maintained, repaired, or upgraded as needed.

Responsibilities (Essential functions denoted with *)

Production

• Assist Production Lead Technician as directed in providing audio visual support to all internal/external events as required by the event customer. This may include one or more of the following skills:

• Audio Systems
• Video Systems
• Lighting Systems
• Staging Systems
• Other Production Systems

• Assist with repairs and upgrades on audio visual systems as necessary.
• Work with AV and Production Team Leader and Events Production and Programs Manager to ensure that proper specifications are met and participate in set up, operation, and tear down of event equipment for scheduled meetings and events as needed.
• Assist event customers with preparation of all presentation materials needed for meetings and events.

General

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Three years’ experience (including in live meeting support) and excellent knowledge of audio-visual systems.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, with the ability to quickly learn new software

• Flexible schedule, including availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays

While performing the duties of this job, have the ability to climb stairs, not adverse to heights, have great hearing and vision, and have good cognitive skills. Bending, stretching and climbing are attributes necessary for this position.

The individual is regularly required to move/transport up to 50 lbs.

The work environment has varied locations that will require a flexible schedule, seven days a week including nights and weekends. The number of hours will vary on the events department schedule for the Museum and its customers.
