Essential Functions:
- Responsible to maintain, review annually, and assure general compliance to, written health care and nursing policies and procedures in an "Agency Health Care Manual", that at minimum addresses all of the areas indicated and outlined in Section 49.0 of BHDDH Rules and Regulations for the Licensing of Developmental Disability Organizations.
- Responsible for medication management in accordance with all applicable Federal and State laws and BHDDH Rules and Regulations.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of medical/ nursing care plans in compliance with State Regulations, BHDDH Policy, and accepted nursing standards of practice.
- Participates in ISP development for clients with medical/ nursing needs.
- Maintains health records for clients in accordance with BHDDH regulations and accepted nursing standards of practice.
- Assists and reviews insurance forms and medical billing.
- Trains, coaches and/ or supports the Direct Support Provider and clients on healthy living skills such as nutrition, menu planning, exercise, medication, personal care, and other health care training as required within BHDDH Rules and Regulations for the Licensing of Developmental Disability Organizations.
- Ensures clients receive all appropriate healthcare, evaluations, immunizations, and routine physicals as recommended and ordered by the person's physician or other licensed health care provider. Will accompany clients to doctors, dentists when appropriate.
- Serves as the liaison to healthcare providers and related specialists.
- Transcribes medical orders from healthcare providers and provides necessary liaison with pharmacy.
- Liaison with families regarding health matters.
- Completes initial & annual Nursing Assessments on all residential clients.
- Coordinates with Support Coordinator to provide client health information on applications for needed services.
- Brings urgent/ unusual health related issues to the the attention of Program Director to assure that any needed resources or information is obtained.
- Inspects all community residences regularly to ensure safe living environments.
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates Part-time Nurse.
- Provides nursing support after hours as needed.
- Networks with other DDO agency nurses in order to enhance and improve services to Corliss clients.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Administrative Director.
Qualifications:
- Have proper license in the state or Rhode Island as a Registered Nurse
- Possess the ability to provide services to persons with Intellectual/ Developmental Disabilities.
- Display a strong sense of responsibility and be able to function effectively and efficiently without or with little supervision.
- Must demonstrate maturity and have the ability to deal with personnel effectively in a professional manner.
- Must be able to communicate client's needs to physicians and other members of the health care team.
General Requirements:
- Clean Criminal Background Check (BCI)
- Valid driver's license with good driving record.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word.
- Familiarity with Internet software, particularly Web browsing and email.
- Ability to learn ASL (American Sign Language)

- Able to stand, walk, sit and bend intermittently during the shift.
- Able to reach with hands/ arms, stoop, kneel, and bend/twist.
- Able to be required to lift/ transfer up to 70 lbs. alone.
- Able to read fine print with or without corrective lenses.
- Willing to be exposed to blood, body tissue or fluids, infections and infectious waste materials.
- Willing to be exposed to combative patients.
Pay: $43.00 - $45.00 per hour
