The Compassionate Corner is proud to offer adults with disabilities a daytime facility that provides social connectivity, activities in-house and in the community and create leisure and learning opportunities. Our Direct Support Caregivers assist our participants to ensure their physical and emotional needs are met, provide discreet and appropriate personal care, support in programming and guidance to be successful in their daily activities.

Caregiver Job Responsibilities:

· Assists participants with activities of daily living, including toileting, transferring and getting to and from activities and meals according to the individual service plan. Dressing, personal hygiene and other assistance may also be needed at times.

· Allows and encourages participants to do as much of their own care as possible.

· Assist in preparing meals or feeding participants as needed.

· Encourages participants to eat a proper diet and take adequate fluids while respecting the participant’s right to free choice and records and reports changes in participant’s eating habits to the supervisor.

· Initiates and participates in leisure activities provided for participants as described in the activity calendar and encourages residents to socialize and participate in planned activities or programs to develop friendships with other participants.

· Maintains participant records in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy and procedures; documents medication distribution as applicable, leisure activities, incidents, and observations; reports any changes in participant’s physical condition and/or behavior, and visitors; observes and reports the health and emotional condition of each participant; and promptly reports all changes to the supervisor.

· Assists participants with medication as defined in medication procedure; assists or supervises participants who self-administer medication; follows physician orders and state laws to administer medications to participants who cannot self-administer their medications; and exhibits understanding of and follows medication policies and procedures.

· Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment for the participants; performs general housekeeping; and follows cleaning schedules for all areas of the facility.

· Follows proper procedures in emergency situations and responds promptly and positively to participant requests for assistance.

· Knows location of each participant, and notifies the supervisor immediately if unable to locate a resident.

· Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers.

The Compassionate Corner is open to participants Monday through Friday 8am-3:30pm, Caregiver working hours will vary upon scheduling needs, but may start as early as 7:30am and the workday ends at 4:00pm. We offer paid training and continuing education for all caregivers to meet the state standards and qualify under DHS regulations.

· Physical ability to reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and lift up to 50 lbs. while avoiding potential injury from transferring, repositioning, or lifting residents

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

· Any state-mandated certification within 90 days of hire will be required and provided by The Compassionate Corner.

· Ability to pass a Caregiver Background Check

· Must have a valid in-state driver’s license in good standing (required for employees who will be transporting participants)

· Must be 18 years of age or older

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
