Registered Early Childhood Educator Apprenticeship Program Overview
The Community Group Training and Workforce Development department provides education and professional development to early childhood educators working with infants through school-aged children. Through coaching, training, and education, we support educators in family child care programs, center-based programs and after-school programs.
TCG’s operates an early childhood registered apprenticeship program for individuals looking to enter the field and become teachers. Our program is recognized by the Massachusetts Division of Apprenticeship Standards.
Apprentices receive instruction that prepares them to become a successful early childhood teacher as well as on-the-job learning in a classroom setting. While they complete their training, apprentices are placed in full-time, paid classroom positions, where they are supported by mentor teachers.
Program Highlights:

· You’ll receive job placement at a childcare center in the NorthShore Area.
· You’ll be surrounded by a supportive community focused on your growth.
· You’ll take part in professional development that prepares you for long-term career success.
Program Duties (include but not limited to):
· Supporting experienced teachers with daily classroom routines, learning activities, and care tasks.
· Building nurturing relationships with young children in early learning settings.
· Participating in live and virtual training sessions with a cohort of peers and mentors.
· Collaborating with education professionals to build your confidence and skill set.
· Gaining valuable experience while working toward Massachusetts EEC credentials.
Qualifications:
· Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED. Demonstrated interest in building a long-term, meaningful career in early childhood education.
· Ability to commit to a consistent work schedule and attend required on-site training.
· Willingness to complete two college-level courses as part of the training program.
