Deliverables, Outcomes, and Expectations:

• Provides comprehensive and emergency dental services, including diagnosis/treatment plans, general restorative procedures, minor oral surgery, uncomplicated endodontics, and fixed and removable prosthodontic procedures as set forth by VV clinical guidelines and OSDB laws and rules.

• Reviews patient vitals, health, medical, and social history prior to care/treatment.

• Prescribes and interprets radiographs and lab studies.

• Makes referrals to in-house services and/or to specialty care as appropriate.

• Provides dental and oral health education to patients and families.

• Ensures all patients enjoy a positive experience and are treated with the care and compassion expected.

• Manages difficult clients and patients, demonstrating interpersonal savvy and influence skills.

• Exercises professional judgment in the performance of dental care/treatment, consistent with VV policies/procedures and standards in dental care, QI activities, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

• Maintains standards set forth by the Dental Director/Director of Dental Operations regarding supplies, instruments, equipment, and scheduling to ensure continuous quality assurance/improvement.

• Demonstrates a high degree of knowledge and competency in the practice of dentistry and associated charting requirements.

• Prepares/confirms laboratory cases.

Functional Area: Clinical Resident Supervision

Deliverables, Outcomes, and Expectations:

• Supervises, instructs, and trains dental residents in a clinical setting.

• Provides clinical teaching with residents, students, and patients, ensuring continuity of patient care throughout the residency training period.

• Participates in didactic presentations of core curriculum related to patient care.

• Ensures timely completion of resident clinical evaluations.

• Models and teaches evidence-based clinical practice and assures utilization of services/resources.

• Supervises resident clinical training and assesses competency.

• Attends and participates in clinic conferences and case discussions.

• Reviews clinical documentation for accuracy and completeness.

Functional Area: Administrative / Continuous Quality Performance
Estimated Effort: 10%

Deliverables, Outcomes, and Expectations:

• Participates in the daily morning huddle.

• Provides leadership and direction for the clinical supervision of dental hygienists, EFDAs, and dental assistants.

• Develops and maintains positive relationships with other dentists and dental staff.

• Supports each clinic’s operations through collaborative efforts and strong working relationships.

• Affects overall clinical results and meets or exceeds measurable standards of care, including clinical, quality, and productivity goals.

• Actively participates in community dental programs.

• Manages multiple responsibilities and emergency situations as necessary.

• Ensures duties are completed in a timely and professional manner.

• Maintains patient confidentiality.

Functional Area: Service and Other Responsibilities

• Serves as part of various committees (ad hoc or standing), work groups, and service teams within Valley View Health Centers and CAC.

• Demonstrates a strong commitment to the organization’s mission of promoting oral health.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

• DDS or DMD graduate of a CODA-accredited dental program.

Job-Related Experience:

• Preference given to direct patient care experience in a community health center and/or FQHC dental program(s).

Licenses, Certifications, and Accreditations:

• Current/active or eligible to hold a dental license issued by the Ohio State Dental Board.

• Current healthcare provider CPR and AED certification through the American Heart Association.

Direct Patient Care Requirements

• Verification of licensure, registration, or certification.

• Verification of education and training.

• Completion of a query of the Office of Inspector General (OIG).

• Verification of Health/Fit for Duty, including physical and mental health status and any impairment that may interfere with the safe and effective provision of care permitted under the requested clinical privileges of the position.

• Three professional letters of recommendation.

• Current BLS/CPR certification.

• Proof of Hepatitis B immunity, including a copy of immunization record showing HBV series or documentation stating immunity.
