DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Protects store assets by participating in periodic inventory, following established security practices/policies, and handling injuries/incidents to minimize store liability.
- Keeps department staff informed of storewide and departmental news, and policy/procedural changes, and organize department meetings.
- Receives and checks deliveries to verify piece count and quality, obtains credit from vendor and notifies appropriate staff of discrepancies.
- Ensures that unsellable items are returned or otherwise properly disposed of, following established procedures.
- Maintains systems to ensure timely, effective, consistent, and thorough communication to all staff:
- Ensures staff are informed of department and individual performance with respect to measurable goals (margin, weekly sales, loss prevention, etc.).
- Ensures staff are informed of storewide or departmental news, policy or procedural changes, and upcoming events.
- Regularly provides performance feedback to staff.
- Conducts timely staff performance evaluations.
- Takes corrective action as needed following established policies.
- Keeps appropriate shrinkage records.
- Anticipates demands and needs of the department and work area and prepares it to be fully equipped and/or running smoothly for the next shift.
- Is flexible and able to navigate schedules changes, breaks, and store coverage.
- In coordination with the Human Resources Manager, develops and maintains training plan and materials for department staff.
- Hires and trains qualified applicants for department.
- Establishes systems to ensure all department staff are regularly informed of department and individual performance with respect to measurable goals (margin, drawer accuracy, weekly sales, loss prevention, etc.)
- Communicates performance expectations and coordinates tasks and special projects for staff.
- Documents performance issues and takes corrective action as needed.
- Schedules and monitors labor hours, and recommends pay raises within department budget according to approved pay scale.
- Takes responsibility for ensuring that essential equipment and supplies are available for operations, filling in for each other as needed.
- Participates in development of operating budgets for store.
- Establishes and update ordering, new product and new vendor guidelines, and ensures compliance therewith.
- Places orders to ensure regular and/or special product supply, coordinates returns and credit from suppliers where applicable, and reviews invoices for accuracy, referring on to Finance department.
- Plans and maintains attractive displays and ensures displays and shelves are fully stocked and rotated.
- Calculates prices following established pricing guidelines and participates in periodic price, product and merchandising comparisons with competitors.
- Establishes guidelines for competitive pricing and mark-downs, ensuring margin goals are met, and monitors pricing for accuracy.
- Ensures that promotional signage is accurate, up-to-date and follows the co-op’s established format.
- Establishes quality standards for products and develop procedures that ensure quality is maintained.
- Provides attentive, timely, and friendly service to all internal and external customers at all times.
- Builds and maintains customer satisfaction with the products and services offered by the co-op.
- Others duties as assigned.
Requirements
PREREQUISITES
- High School Diploma or equivalent education or experience.
- A minimum of four (4) years’ experience in retail management, including team building and scheduling.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in analyzing financial statements and budgeting.
- A minimum of one (1) year’s experience and familiarity with natural foods.
- Supports the co-op’s core values and aligns with the Co-op Code of Conduct.
- Adapts readily based on evolving co-op needs or in response to feedback.
- Maintains composure in highly stressful or adverse situations.
- Computer proficiency and experience with receiving systems preferred.
ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Flexibility to work any shift, including mornings, middays, evenings, weekends, or overnights.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures (approximately 20°F – 90°F).
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods at a time.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, twist, and climb.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
- Reliable access to transportation.
Salary : $56,000 - $65,000
