Public Policy Fall Semester 2026 Internship (Hybrid – NYC)


The Common Good is a non-partisan nonprofit that brings together leading voices across politics, business, and culture to engage in meaningful, solution-driven dialogue. Through high-level forums and initiatives, we provide a platform for real conversations between policymakers, industry leaders, and the public.


As a Public Policy Intern, you will gain direct exposure to the ideas, people, and conversations shaping today’s political landscape—while developing practical experience in policy research, communications, and event production.


What you’ll do:

  • Conduct research on live policy debates (economic policy, elections, national security, etc.)
  • Prepare briefing materials for high-level speaker events and forums
  • Track legislative and policy developments and translate them into clear, digestible insights
  • Draft communications used for public-facing programming and discussions
  • Support execution of in-person and virtual events featuring political and industry leaders


Qualifications

  • Knowledge of governmental affairs, government relations, and public policy frameworks
  • Strong analytical skills for research, policy evaluation, and synthesis of complex information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with legislative processes and policy development
  • Demonstrated engagement with current policy debates and geopolitical developments
  • Ability to synthesize complex policy topics into clear, concise written materials
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a hybrid work environment
  • Passion for public policy, civic engagement, and fostering democratic dialogue
  • Experience with academic writing or policy analysis frameworks is a plus
  • Interest in public programming, events, or civic dialogue initiatives is a plus
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Political Science, Public Policy, International Relations, Global Affairs, or a related field

Compensation

This is an unpaid internship designed to provide meaningful professional experience, mentorship, and exposure within the public policy and civic engagement space. Academic credit may be available. CPT eligible students are welcome to apply
