Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Drug test
- Criminal background check – over one year since prior conviction
- TB skin test – must have a test or provide proof of one within the past year.
- Must have a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Must have or be willing to obtain Basic Concepts in Food Safety Certification.
Position Summary: Assist in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen. Ensure that the food served meets or exceeds the Department for Public Health standards.
Skill Sets: Demonstrate good oral and written communications. Must use organizational skills to prioritize daily tasks. Have a positive attitude. Understand key business and quality standards related to food, service and cleanliness.
Physical and Environmental Demands: Kitchens are located within active, residential substance abuse treatment facilities. Sitting, standing, bending and lifting are required movements for this position. Visual and manual dexterity are required for meal preparation. Possible exposure to communicable diseases during contact with individuals released from various locations i.e. jails, hospitals, unsanitary conditions, rehabilitation centers, etc.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide quality customer service to personnel, persons served, families and stakeholders.
- Gain a thorough knowledge of our recipes and food preparation procedures to uphold standards between facilities.
- Help maintain the health, safety and welfare of personnel, persons served and stakeholders.
- Ensure state and federal licensure and regulations are being adhered to.
- Responsible for food safety and food preparation.
- Manage food quality standards by consistently monitoring food temperature and ensuring proper storage.
- Ensure consistent and accurate records are kept for the refrigerator/freezer temperature logs.
- Discuss special diet needs with medical staff and personnel.
- Ensure cleanliness of the kitchen and appliances.
- Manage inventory rotation and product storage standards.
- Communicate with Senior Program Manager regarding basic repairs and upkeep to the kitchen, including the equipment.
- Complete grocery shopping.
- Assist in the management of the day to day operations of the kitchen
- Ensure and maintain resident confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Perform administrative functions as necessary or directed
- Assist in the quality assurance of the agency
- Assist in maintaining compliance with the State Licensure Requirements.
- Improve performance
