JOB OVERVIEW:    Greet guests in a gracious and professional manner. Assist Bartenders to ensure that guests receive prompt and seamless service in accordance with the hotel’s standards of quality, presentation and sanitation. Assist in cleaning bars and bar areas, preparing garnishes, and ensuring the bar is well stocked with all liquor and supplies needed. Complete opening and closing procedures and assigned side work. This role must strive to provide anticipatory service at all times, and remain attentive to guests and focused on providing exceptional service in a fast-paced environment. Practice social distancing, observe mask mandates, and maintain handwashing routine as ordered by the CDC, Palm Beach County, and the State of Florida.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Must at all times be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.
  2. Consistently provide friendly, engaging and anticipatory guest service and heartfelt hospitality.
  3. Welcome and greet every guest, provide immediate attention to all guests upon seating in the bar area if bartender is not available, distribute menus.
  4. Maintain the cleanliness of bars and bar areas, refrigerators, and service areas in an organized manner.
  5. Perform opening and closing procedures, complete checklists and assigned side work.
  6. Clean and sanitize assigned areas thoroughly before and after shift end. 
  7. Assist with organizing the bar area to streamline drink preparation and inventory.
  8. Polish glasses and silverware, fold napkins, clean and sanitize menus, etc.
  9. Maintain a well-stocked bar with an adequate supply of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, ice, napkins, straws, glassware, and other accessories.
  10. Wash and sterilize glassware.
  11. Replenish all bar supplies as needed throughout the shift.
  12. Submit orders to supervisor; assist with receipt of deliveries.
  13. Slice, pit, and prepare fruit garnishes for drinks.
  14. Mix and prepare syrups, mixers, tonics and other ingredients in accordance with hotel’s recipes.
  15. Maintain full knowledge of all food & beverage items, garnishes, allergens, contents, and preparation methods.
  16. Assist with service, when needed. Pour wine, serve beer and soft beverages.
  17. Follow prescribed procedures in serving alcohol with care, adhere to proper alcohol handling procedures.
  18. Follow up with guests to ensure satisfaction and make recommendations for additions.
  19. Observe guests, respond to additional requests.
  20. Maintain the highest level of standards of quality of products and service at all times.
  21. Serve water, bread and butter to guests dining at the bar, and refill glasses as needed. 
  22. Retrieve meals from the kitchen and deliver them to bar guests, add any additional items to order before it is delivered (condiments, salad dressings, steak knife, etc.).
  23. Serve drinks and meals according to service standards while managing guest orders in a timely and anticipatory manner.
  24. Coordinate bar food service with front- and back-of-house personnel to provide a guest experience that meets or exceeds guest expectations.
  25. Remove soiled dishes and maintain cleanliness. Maintain full knowledge of and comply with food safety and sanitation policies at all times.
  26. Perform bussing responsibilities such as clearing trash from bar areas, clear, clean and reset vacated seats and tables after guests depart.
  27. Mop, sweep and perform other cleaning duties throughout the Food & Beverage outlets as needed.
  28. Advise supervisor/manager of any complaints as soon as they occur.
  29. Monitor and handle guest complaints following the instant pacification procedures and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  30. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and personal hygiene.
  31. Demonstrate ability to multi-task, manage time and work well under pressure.
  32. Adhere to local and government compliance with health and safety regulations to ensure a clean and safe work environment for guests and employees.
  33. Maintain confidentiality of all guest information and pertinent hotel information.
  34. Maintain knowledge of all safety and emergency procedures and be aware of accident prevention policies.
  35. Follow outlet policies, procedures and service standards.
  36. Maintain a professional courteous manner with all guests and fellow employees.
  37. Assist with special and deep cleaning projects as assigned by a supervisor.
  38. Perform any other duties as requested by supervisor.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist with monthly inventory of food & beverage and paper products within F&B outlets.
  2. Assist Food Runners and Bussers with stocking supplies, removing and resetting dishes and silverware between courses, and cleaning and resetting vacated tables.

Qualifications:

Essential:       

  1. Previous barback or busser experience, in a luxury hotel/restaurant/resort, preferred.
  2. Excellent guest service skills and a passion for hospitality.
  3. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English.
  4. Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with guests and co-workers.
  5. Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
  6. Ability to follow instructions.
  7. Detail-oriented and thorough.
  8. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  9. Ability to prioritize and multitask.
  10. Ability to perform consistent work to the hotel’s high standards.
  11. Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  12. Ability to maintain personal hygiene.
  13. Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
  14. Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.

Desirable:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Previous luxury guest service/Forbes training.
  3. Prior experience with Food & Beverage POS systems.
  4. Fluent in a secondary language.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Frequently pulling, pushing, and bending.
  2. Exposure to outdoor environmental factors.
  3. Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach and carry with hands and arms.
  4. Able to grasp, lift, push, pull, and/or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 50 lbs. following appropriate safety procedures.
