High School Boys & Girls Varsity Swimming Head Coach Needed for 2025-26 School YearThe College Preparatory School, a private high school in North Oakland, seeks a Head Coach for its Boys and Girls Varsity Swimming Program for the 2025–26 school year. We are looking for an energetic and dedicated coach eager to build on our established and successful program.Our ideal candidate is passionate about swimming and about teaching lifelong values of sportsmanship, integrity, commitment, personal responsibility, teamwork, and self-discipline. The swim season runs from February 9 to May 16, 2026.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Provide instruction, mentorship, and coaching in swimming skills, techniques, and competitive strategies.Develop and execute practice and season-long coaching plans.Inspire and support student-athletes of varying abilities and cultural backgrounds to foster commitment, discipline, and teamwork.Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes, coaching staff, and the College Prep community.Supervise, organize, and motivate assistant coaches and athletes.Collaborate professionally with faculty, staff, and athletic administrators.Attend all required department and league meetings.Represent College Prep positively through professional conduct and communication.Maintain strong relationships with media, parents, officials, students, staff, and administration.Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to NFHS, CIF, NCS, and league rules and regulations.Oversee inventory, selection, and maintenance of equipment and facilities.Ensure the safety and supervision of all student-athletes.Report injuries promptly to the Athletic Trainer, Athletic Director, and Associate Athletic Director.QualificationsDemonstrated knowledge of effective coaching theory, strategies, and techniques for high school athletes.Experience coaching swimming at the high school or collegiate level.Valid California driver's license.Availability for afternoon and evening practices, as well as occasional weekend meets and playoffs.CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).Lifeguard Certification (or willingness to obtain)Founded in 1960, The College Preparatory School is an independent, coeducational secondary school created for intellectual risk-takers who want to pursue a purposeful education with kindred peers.
