What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physics Instructor Part-time position at The College of Idaho?

The College of Idaho invites applications for part-time adjunct instructors to teach introductory
physics lab sections and/or an electronics course and its accompanying lab. The Adjunct
Instructor is a part-time non-tenure track position with teaching as the primary responsibility.
Courses are taught in-person on The College of Idaho campus in Caldwell, ID. We seek
candidates who share the College’s commitment to creating an inclusive academic community
through their teaching. The Physics and Mathematics department supports instructors'
professional development with collaborative mentorship and shared resources for effective
undergraduate teaching.
In Fall 2026 semester, instructors are needed for two sections of the General Physics I lab.
General Physics I is the first semester of a two-semester, algebra-based introductory physics
sequence. Lab times are Thursday mornings and afternoons.
In Spring 2027 semester, instructors are needed for two sections of the General Physics II lab,
one section of the Analytical Physics II lab, and our Electronics course with its accompanying
lab. General Physics II is the second semester of a two-semester, algebra-based introductory
physics sequence. General Physics II lab times are Thursday mornings and afternoons.
Analytical Physics II is the second semester of a two-semester, calculus-based introductory
physics sequence. Analytical Physics II lab time is Tuesday mornings. Our electronics course is
a calculus-based introduction to electronics. The lecture is tentatively scheduled
Monday/Wednesday morning, and the lab is scheduled Tuesday afternoons.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in physics, engineering, astronomy, or a closely related field is required.
- Master’s degree in an appropriate area of study or equivalent professional experience is
preferred.
- Experience as an instructor in a professional setting such as continuing education or intern
supervision; college-level teaching experience is highly desirable.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States as of the expected hire date and
throughout the date of the contract without sponsorship from the College.
