Duties
- Perform a variety of hair services including cutting, coloring, styling, and hair extensions to meet client preferences and enhance their natural beauty
- Consult with clients to understand their desired look, offering professional advice on hair care and styling options
- Maintain high standards of sanitation and cleanliness in all work areas, tools, and equipment in accordance with health regulations
- Use salon software such as MINDBODY to schedule appointments, update client records, and manage retail sales efficiently
- Assist clients with retail product recommendations and upselling to promote hair care and beauty products
- Apply hair coloring techniques based on color theory principles to achieve vibrant, customized results
- Provide specialized services such as eyelash extensions, nail care, makeup application, or hair threading as needed
- Manage front desk responsibilities including greeting clients, checking in appointments, and handling client communication professionally
- Mentor junior team members or apprentices to foster skill development and team cohesion
- Stay informed about current trends in hair styling and barbering to continually refine your craft
Skills
- Extensive experience working in the beauty industry with a strong portfolio of hair styling work
- Proficiency in salon software systems like MINDBODY for appointment scheduling and client management
- Skilled in various hair techniques including cutting, coloring, styling, hair extensions, and barbering using straight razors when appropriate
- Knowledge of hair care products, retail sales strategies, and upselling techniques to enhance client satisfaction and store revenue
- Strong understanding of sanitation standards to ensure a safe salon environment for clients and staff
- Excellent communication skills for effective client consultation and personalized service delivery
- Ability to work efficiently at the front desk managing appointments and client inquiries seamlessly
- Familiarity with retail math for accurate product sales tracking and inventory management
- Capable of mentoring team members while maintaining a positive salon atmosphere
- Knowledge of color theory to create customized color solutions that complement each client's features
