Overnight Direct Care Staff – KITSAP COUNTY SHELTER
Status: On Call, Hourly
Wage: $19 to $20
Reports To: Hope Homes Manager
Program: Hope Homes Teen Shelter
Purpose: The Overnight Direct Care Staff cares for and supervises youth housed in our Overnight Teen Shelter by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist in screening, evaluation and orientation of homeless youth.
2. Handle crisis phone calls and occasional walk-in crisis situations.
3. Complete weekly and monthly program reports.
4. Maintain and dispense appropriate medications.
5. Input client data into data system.
6. Prepare youth each morning and ensure youth are dressed, fed and ready for school or other activity.
7. Gives instructions to youth regarding desirable health and personal habits.
8. Discipline youth and recommend or initiate other measures to control behavior.
9. Assist with housekeeping duties in the entire shelter and ensure cleanliness and tidiness at all times.
10. Ensure safe environment for fellow employees and residents.
11. Attend meetings and trainings as required
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Be at least twenty-one years of age
2. In full agreement with The Coffee Oasis Jesus Statement, Core Values, and mission
3. Have at least 1 year of experience working with adolescents
4. Have completed HIV / AIDS / Blood Borne Pathogen training
5. Have completed First Aid and CPR
6. Have completed a tuberculin test
7. Have possession of current driver’s license, access to a vehicle and personal automobile insurance
8. Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts as required for reporting
9. Be a high school graduate
10. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
11. Have knowledge of internet software; a spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Internet research skills are a plus.
