The Cobb School, Montessori in Simsbury, CT is looking for Substitute Teachers for the spring of 2026 and upcoming school year.

Position Overview:
As a Substitute Teacher, you will be essential in maintaining a productive learning environment when regular teachers are unavailable. We typically have 2 adults in each classroom, so there will always be a familiar adult in the room with the substitute. You will be reporting to the school administration.
Responsibilities:
- Attend orientations and familiarize yourself with the Montessori philosophy and Cobb School expectations.
- Work with teacher to understand the routines, expectations of the classroom and needs and goals of the children.
- Assist teacher during class time by observing the children;
- Support children in working towards independence;
- Redirecting children to work and aiding children who need help;
- Work with teacher to prepare environment each morning;
- Maintain order and cleanliness of environment daily;
- Supervise children on the playground;
- Support arrival, dismissal, and depending on the age toileting;
Qualifications:
- Experience with and a love for working with children of all ages toddler through elementary.
- Reliable, punctual and responsive.
- Responsible and able to take direction, feedback and to follow through.
- Demonstrate flexibility and be able to support wherever needed.
- Willingness to learn and be trained in Montessori philosophy.
