LANDSCAPE MANAGER
Role Overview:
The Landscape Manager at The Club at Kukui'ula oversees daily operations of the Landscape and Farm departments, reporting to the Director of Landscape & Farm Operations. This role entails planning, supervising, and leading teams, including third-party contractors, engaged in landscape maintenance, preservation, restoration, and construction. The manager collaborates with the Director on care plans, budgets, schedules, and overall property maintenance. They coordinate with various departments like Food & Beverage, Club Services, Engineering, and Golf Maintenance, and lead special projects and educational initiatives for staff development.
Qualifications:
- Considerable knowledge of horticulture, grounds maintenance, and landscape construction.
- Proficiency in proper pruning techniques, arboriculture, turf management, soils science, and plant care.
- Familiarity with Hawaiian native, endemic, and invasive plants.
- Understanding of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) in Hawaii.
- Familiarity with Worker Protection Standard (WPS) in agriculture.
- Proficiency in irrigation systems' operation and design.
- Ability to lift 55 pounds regularly and perform strenuous manual labor outdoors.
- Competence in operating small power tools, large equipment (mowers, tractors, etc.), and hand tools.
- Strong multitasking abilities and adaptability in changing work environments.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Natural leadership qualities and ability to maintain relationships with coworkers, visitors, and vendors.
- Preferably certified as a pesticide technician and trained to use small and heavy equipment.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a management or leadership position related to landscaping.
- Experience in local landscape industry councils (e.g., Kauai Landscape Industry Council).
- Proven ability to manage and maintain positive relationships with teams, members, guests, and clients.
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to operate basic office equipment (telephones, computers, smartphones, etc.).
Certificates and Licenses:
- Certified Arborist, Certified Landscape Technician, Certified WPS Trainer are advantageous.
Salary Range: $75,000 USD - $90,000 USD per year
